Sum of horizontal and vertical legs, minus bend deduction.

Where: A = Horizontal leg length in mm, B = Vertical leg length in mm, d = Bar diameter in mm

Rectangular Stirrup

2(A + B) + 12d

Perimeter of stirrup plus hook allowances. Calculated as 2 hooks × 10d minus 4 bends × 2d = 20d - 8d = 12d.

Calculate Stirrup Cutting Length

Column stirrup for a 300mm × 450mm column with 8mm bars and 25mm cover

Calculate outer dimensions

A = 300 - (2 × 25) = 250mm, B = 450 - (2 × 25) = 400mm

Apply stirrup formula

2(A + B) + 12d = 2(250 + 400) + 12(8)

= 2(650) + 96 = 1300 + 96 = 1396mm

Result: 1396mm (1.396m)

Calculate L-Bar for Beam Bottom
